22-29 August 2011 – A week of workshops at Birmingham Cathedral

We can announce our exciting summer programme to take place in the Birmingham Cathedral grounds this August (see the diary page on our web site). There will be a series of workshops led by professional makers and assisted by the Craftspace Collective group for young people to participate and develop their craft skills.

This year we will be concentrating on context led guerrilla craft activity leading to interventions within the Cathedral grounds.

‘Intervention: the act of intervening, a deliberate entry into a situation to influence events.’

‘Context led: responding to the surroundings; circumstances or events that form within the environment which something takes place.’

Also, some of the young people who took part last year are working together to organise some new events. They have been asked to organise a guerilla craft workshop for the National Play day in Kings Heath Park, Birmingham on the 3rd of August. They’re currently working on their plans and we’ll have more info here soon.
