From our workshops at the Clothes Show

We haven’t posted a Blog since last year but a lot has been happening with the The Craftspace Collective and so we thought it was about time to share some news and updates with you.

We appointed an associate artist Alex Locket to support our up and coming initiatives . She currently runs a successful project called Project Pigeon. We’re really looking forward to be working with her on our own projects.

There so many exciting things coming up for 2012 . Our intervention at The Clothes Show Live towards the end of last year was so successful that we now are going to publish a book to show people some of the new techniques that we learnt there. We hope to pull in content from some of the artists and graduates that we worked with aswell as some of the the people that took part in making.

We are also planning to deliver workshops with an artist over Spring and Summer to three areas in Birmingham. They will be in Northfield, Sparkbrook and Erdington. We are in the process of recruiting an artist and devising each workshop.  We also plan to put on a 3 day graduate event in pigeon park where we will invite new graduates to put on an intervention in the  grounds of pigeon park, Birmingham. If you’re graduating this year from and art or design course and would like to be involved then please get in touch.

With all these new projects coming up we decided to allocate roles within the collective. So far Cat, Hannah and Sarah are going to lead on coordinating the 3 Birmingham workshops, Kamara will be our Press and PR manager and Joey has been appointed the role of the Chair.

If  you would like to keep more informed then you can join the Facebook group to see what’s happening.

If you would like  to get more involved with The Craftspace Collective then get in touch or there is a Closed Facebook group you can join, this is where we generally share our ideas and post dates of meetings etc.
